Reconstitution Guide
Lyophilised (freeze-dried) peptides are delivered as powders that are resistant to short-term temperature fluctuations during transport. At room temperature, peptides in powder form remain stable for several weeks. Proper storage is essential to maintain integrity.
Before use, the lyophilised powder must be reconstituted by mixing it with an appropriate solvent. Accurate reconstitution ensures that peptides retain their potency and bioactivity for research purposes.
- Wash hands thoroughly and wear clean, non-sterile gloves
- Work on a clean, flat surface wiped with 70% isopropyl alcohol
- Have all materials ready: vial, bacteriostatic water, syringe, alcohol swabs
- Ensure the vial is at room temperature before reconstitution
- Wipe the vial rubber stopper with an alcohol swab and let it dry
- Draw the calculated volume of bacteriostatic water into the syringe
- Inject the water slowly down the inside wall of the peptide vial
- Do not shake - gently swirl or roll the vial between your palms until dissolved
- The solution should be clear and colourless. Cloudiness or particulates indicate a problem
- Refrigerate at 2-8C immediately after reconstitution
- Most reconstituted peptides are stable for 28-30 days when refrigerated
- Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles - aliquot into single-use quantities if freezing
- Keep away from direct light. Amber vials or opaque containers are preferred
- Use a new sterile needle and syringe for each withdrawal
